The Township of Asphodel-Norwood wishes everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Please note the following hours and service updates for the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Get ready to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election! Voting opens October 13 at 10:00 a.m. and closes October 26 at 8:00 p.m. Find important dates, Voter Information Letter guidance and details about voting assistance at the Municipal Office.

County Road 40, between Wellington Street and Albine Street, will be closed to complete the remaining sanitary sewer upgrades beneath the railway tracks. This work could not be completed during the Stage 1 closure this summer due to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) labour dispute.

Asphodel 8th Line, between Centre Line and the Trent Hills–Asphodel-Norwood municipal boundary in Hastings, will be temporarily closed to through traffic for a culvert installation on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labour Day. Garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled. The Transfer Station will be open on Saturday, September 5, and closed on Monday, September 7. Both branches of the Asphodel-Norwood Public Library will also be closed on September 7. CP Railway has advised that an emergency road closure is required for Asphodel 7th Line, between Hwy 7 and County Rd 8 to complete railway track repairs from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Celebrate the season by taking part in the Cultural and Heritage Committee’s annual Fall Decorating Challenge! This challenge is a refreshed version of the former Scarecrow Challenge. The Committee will judge the registered displays on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and prizes will be awarded to the top three displays.

The Township is aware of stronger-than-usual wastewater treatment odours around the community this year and appreciates residents’ patience while necessary maintenance and repairs are completed.
