The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labour Day. Garbage and recycling collection will continue as scheduled. The Transfer Station will be open on Saturday, September 5, and closed on Monday, September 7. Both branches of the Asphodel-Norwood Public Library will also be closed on September 7. On behalf of Council and staff, we wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy Labour Day long weekend!

CP Railway has advised that an emergency road closure is required for Asphodel 7th Line, between Hwy 7 and County Rd 8 to complete railway track repairs from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Celebrate the season by taking part in the Cultural and Heritage Committee’s annual Fall Decorating Challenge! This challenge is a refreshed version of the former Scarecrow Challenge. The Committee will judge the registered displays on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and prizes will be awarded to the top three displays.

The Township is aware of stronger-than-usual wastewater treatment odours around the community this year and appreciates residents’ patience while necessary maintenance and repairs are completed.

Leaf and yard waste must no longer be left at the former drop-off locations at Asphodel Heights Park, Westwood Fire Hall, McCarthy’s Point Park, or the Drysdale Road parking area.

Please be advised that the municipal parking lot at 42 Victoria Street (formerly known as the Begg Fuels parking lot) will be closed to public parking from Monday, August 24 to Friday, September 4, 2026, to accommodate scheduled fieldwork.

To help local businesses and institutions transition to Ontario’s new producer-responsibility recycling program, the Township temporarily provided two dedicated ICI recycling bins at the Transfer Station. However, use of the bins has remained very low and does not justify the cost of continuing the service. Accordingly, effective August 15, 2026, the Township will discontinue the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) recycling bin service at the Transfer Station.
