Current employment opportunities:

The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is seeking a responsible, motivated, and team-oriented individual to fill the position of Public Works Operator/General Labourer. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Public Works and Environmental Services.

Compensation

Salary Band 4 of the Township’s Salary Grid with a remuneration range of $26.61/hour - $31.68/hour.

Employment Type & Hours

  • Permanent Full-Time
  • 40 hours/week

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various municipal vehicles/equipment to provide a variety of maintenance and operations services, including road maintenance for the Township of Asphodel-Norwood.

The successful candidate must provide, prior to commencing employment:

  • A satisfactory current driver’s abstract
  • A satisfactory criminal reference check

Note: As part of the selection process, applicants may be required to complete a written and/or oral and/or practical test.

Compensation

Salary: $17.60 - $20.95 per hour

Hours & Location

  • Hours: September – June (school Year)
    Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM; and 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Public Works and Environmental Services/or their designate the incumbent is responsible for the safe movement of pedestrians to and from when crossing public roadways and intersections by observing gaps in the traffic and leading the public across the roadway or intersection, during peak times (to and from school).
