2026 Municipal Election

Township of Asphodel Norwood
The Water & Wastewater Department will be conducting hydrant flushing beginning the week of May 25, 2026, as part of the annual spring maintenance program. Flushing activities are expected to continue through to the week of June 15, 2026.
Waste Connections has advised that garbage collection could not be completed in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood on May 22, 2026. Collection will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Please be advised that Public Works crews will be completing road excavations on Asphodel 8th Line between Highway 7 and Centre Line. The excavation work is expected to take approximately 10 days, and is required to remove a soft section of roadway that reacts significantly during spring thaw conditions.
The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, May 18, 2026 for Victoria Day. Curbside garbage, recycling, and leaf & yard waste collection will proceed as usual. The Transfer Station will be closed on Victoria Day. Residents are invited to attend the first Norwood Market of the 2026 season on the morning of Saturday, May 16th at 42 Victoria Street, Norwood.

The Township wishes to advise residents and businesses of a scheduled water shutdown taking place on Highway 7 on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Residents are advised that the County Road 40 Reconstruction Project (from Wellington Street to Albine Street) is scheduled to begin June 29, 2026, and will require a full road closure for approximately six (6) weeks. The roadway is expected to reopen mid-August, weather permitting.
The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election is now open. Candidate Information Packages are available at the Municipal Office.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood advises that all reduced load restrictions on municipal roads will be lifted for the season effective May 1, 2026.
