County Road 40 Reconstruction Project Moving to Stage 2
The County Road 40 Reconstruction Project remains on schedule to transition to Stage 2 on August 5, 2026.
The current Stage 1 full closure of County Road 40 between Wellington Street and Helen Street will end as the project moves into a partial closure.
Stage 2: Partial Road Closure
A partial closure of County Road 40 between Albine Street and Helen Street will be in effect from August 5 to September 30, 2026.
During this stage, traffic will be detoured along Helen Street, through the subdivision, and back to County Road 40. Heavy trucks will not be permitted on the detour route, and traffic-calming measures will be installed within the subdivision.
Motorists are asked to follow all posted signage and allow additional travel time.
Potential Reinstatement of Stage 1 Closure
Due to the ongoing Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) labour dispute, the required work beneath the railway tracks could not be completed during the current Stage 1 closure.
Once the labour dispute is resolved and the outstanding work can proceed, the Stage 1 full closure may need to be reinstated for approximately two additional weeks. These circumstances are beyond the control of the Township and the contractor.
There is currently no confirmed timeline for when this work can proceed. The Township will provide further notice once the timing of any additional closure has been confirmed.
The Township appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of residents, businesses, and motorists while this important infrastructure work is completed.
