Highway 7 Water Infrastructure Improvements: Funding Announcement and Construction Details
Province Invests Over $1.1 Million in Asphodel-Norwood Water Infrastructure Upgrades
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is pleased to announce it has received $1,111,342 in provincial funding through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS), as part of a broader investment supporting water infrastructure improvements across the region.
The funding was announced by MPP David Piccini on April 17, 2026 and will support the rehabilitation of water services along Highway 7 within the village of Norwood.
“This support means a great deal to our community,” said Mayor Patrick Wilford. “We thank the Province of Ontario for helping us advance critical infrastructure improvements in a way that is both cost-effective and mindful of residents and local businesses.”

The Township has awarded the construction contract to Accurex Inc., and work will involve replacing water services along Highway 7 between civic addresses 4140 and 4306.
Construction Timeline
Construction is scheduled to begin in April (exact start date to be confirmed), with completion anticipated by June 2026.
What Residents Can Expect
Traffic Impacts
Highway 7 will remain open throughout the project; however, lane shifts and traffic control measures will be in place as required.
Garbage & Recycling
Collection will continue as scheduled. Residents are asked to place materials curbside before 7:00 a.m. on their regular collection day.
Driveway Access
Access to driveways will generally be maintained. Temporary restrictions may occur when work is directly in front of a property. Advance notice will be provided, and alternate parking arrangements may be required during these times.
On-Street Parking
Vehicles parked within construction zones must be removed prior to work hours (weekdays, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Water Service Interruptions
Occasional water shutoffs may be required. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice will be provided, and efforts will be made to minimize disruption.
Safety Reminder
Construction will involve deep excavations and heavy equipment. Residents are reminded to keep children and pets at a safe distance from all work areas.
