The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is pleased to share its 2025 Year in Review, highlighting key initiatives, community milestones, and the work undertaken by Council and staff throughout the past year.
As temperatures warm and snow begins to melt, water levels can rise quickly and increase the risk of localized flooding. Residents are encouraged to review the Township’s Sandbag Policy and take preventative steps to ensure their sump pumps are properly maintained.
Quinte Sewer has been contracted to carry out sewer cleaning and inspection work. The Township’s Water and Wastewater Department will make every effort to minimize disruptions; however, residents should be aware that temporary inconveniences may occur during the cleaning process.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is considering a Zoning By-Law Amendment to re-zone the subject lands from the Commercial (C1) Zone to the Commercial Exception Ten Holding (C1-10 (H)) Zone on March 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. under Section 34 of the Planning Act.
The Township recognizes that the proposed Alto High Speed Rail project has raised important questions and concerns for residents. While this is a Government of Canada initiative, members of Council have attended local consultation sessions and will continue to attend whenever possible to gather information, ask questions, and better understand the potential impacts on the Township.
During the spring thaw, many rural roads become softer and more vulnerable to damage caused by heavy vehicles, regardless of the number of axles. To help protect the Township’s road network during this period, weight restrictions of five (5) tonnes per axle will be enforced where posted. Half-load restrictions will remain in place until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise communicated.
The Municipal Office will be closed for the Family Day holiday. Garbage and recycling collection will occur as usual, while the Transfer Station will be closed. Residents are also invited to attend the Family Day Frostival events from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Community Centre.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is currently accepting applications for summer students for the 2026 season. Work schedules will vary and may include morning, evening, and weekend shifts. Applications will be accepted until February 27, 2026.
Join us for a fun-filled Family Day 2026 celebration at the Asphodel-Norwood Community Centre! Bring the whole family and enjoy free activities, skating, food, and entertainment throughout the day.
