Due to inclement weather and road conditions following last night’s storm, several Township services are impacted today. The Asphodel-Norwood Medical Centre is closed for the day, garbage collection has been cancelled, and recycling collection is continuing; however, service is limited to main roads and side roads that have been plowed.

Due to road conditions, Waste Connections was unable to complete some garbage collection routes today. To accommodate the missed collection, double collection will be permitted next week for affected households.

The Significant Weather Event declared in response to recent severe weather conditions has now ended and the declaration has been lifted, in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02. Standard winter maintenance timelines are now back in effect.

Due to poor weather and road conditions, Waste Connections Canada, the Township’s garbage collection contractor, and Emterra Environmental, the Township’s recycling collection contractor, temporarily pulled their trucks from the roads on December 29. Double collection will occur next Monday.

Due to significant freezing rain expected December 28 - 29, the Township of Asphodel-Norwood has declared a Significant Weather Event under Ontario Regulation 239/02. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as hazardous conditions may persist and winter maintenance timelines are temporarily suspended.

The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is advising residents of holiday office closures and service schedule changes affecting municipal offices, waste and recycling collection, the Medical Centre, the Public Library, and other services between December 23, 2025 and January 5, 2026. 

At its December 9, 2025 Regular and Public Meeting, Council approved an updated Procedural By-law and an updated Fees & Charges By-law.
