Holiday Closure and Operational Changes
The Municipal Office will be closed starting at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Please note there will be holiday closures and service schedule changes affecting waste and recycling collection, the Medical Centre, the Public Library, and other Township services over the holiday period.

The Significant Weather Event declared in response to recent severe weather conditions has now ended and the declaration has been lifted, in accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02. Standard winter maintenance timelines are now back in effect.
Due to poor weather and road conditions, Waste Connections Canada, the Township’s garbage collection contractor, and Emterra Environmental, the Township’s recycling collection contractor, temporarily pulled their trucks from the roads on December 29. Double collection will occur next Monday.
Due to significant freezing rain expected December 28 - 29, the Township of Asphodel-Norwood has declared a Significant Weather Event under Ontario Regulation 239/02. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as hazardous conditions may persist and winter maintenance timelines are temporarily suspended.
The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is advising residents of holiday office closures and service schedule changes affecting municipal offices, waste and recycling collection, the Medical Centre, the Public Library, and other services between December 23, 2025 and January 5, 2026.
At its December 9, 2025 Regular and Public Meeting, Council approved an updated Procedural By-law and an updated Fees & Charges By-law.
The Province of Ontario is transitioning to an enhanced, province-wide recycling system managed by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization responsible for operating the new common collection system under the Extended Producer Responsibility framework.
At its Regular and Public Meeting on December 9, 2025, the Township of Asphodel-Norwood adopted the 2026 Municipal Operating & Capital Budget, as well as the 2026 Water and Wastewater budgets for Norwood and Trentview Estates.
Tender 2025-05 invites bidders to purchase and remove ash firewood from the Township’s Sand Road Pit, with submissions due December 19, 2025.
Garbage collection not completed on December 8 due to staffing constraints will resume on December 9.
Over the three-day event, players, team staff, families, and community members are invited to donate non-perishable food items in support of local families and the Asphodel Norwood Food Bank Association. Drop-off at the Asphodel Norwood Community Centre - lobby, make a monetary donation by e-transfer, or purchase a $20 Foodland gift card.
