Leaf and Yard

Leaf and yard waste collection for village residents in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood is organized by the County of Peterborough and provided by Emterra Environmental.

Important Information

• Collection may occur any day, Monday to Friday (not necessarily on your regular garbage or recycling day).

• Set materials out by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week.

• Use paper bags or reusable garbage containers (with lids removed).

• Branches must be bundled, no larger than 1 m x 30 cm (3 ft x 1 ft).

• No limits and no tags are required for leaf and yard waste

Available to Township of Asphodel-Norwood residents only.

Collection requirements

Please pile your leaf and yard waste adjacent to the DROP OFF LOCATION sign posted, and our Public Works team will pick up at the end of the week. 

• Only use compostable paper yard waste bags
• Tie brush into bundles no longer than 3 ft. with material no larger than 2” in diameter
• Make sure each bag weighs no more than 40 lbs. (18 kg)
• Roll the tops of bags down to keep out rain

Note: There are no limits and no bag tags required for leaf and yard materials

Acceptable Materials:

• Grass clippings
• Branches, twigs, tree clippings
• Brush
• Leaves
• Plant material (all soil removed)

Unacceptable Materials:

• Sod and soil 
• Stumps and root balls
• Rocks, stones, etc.
• Plastic of any kind
• Painted lumber
• Pressure treated lumber
• Plywood
• Particle Board
