Leaf and Yard

Leaf and yard waste collection for village residents in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood is organized by the County of Peterborough and provided by Emterra Environmental.

Important Information

• Collection may occur any day, Monday to Friday (not necessarily on your regular garbage or recycling day).

• Set materials out by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week.

• Use paper bags or reusable garbage containers (with lids removed).

• Branches must be bundled, no larger than 1 m x 30 cm (3 ft x 1 ft).

• No limits and no tags are required for leaf and yard waste

The Township’s remote Leaf and Yard Waste Drop-Off Program has been discontinued. Leaf and yard waste must no longer be left at the former drop-off locations at Asphodel Heights Park, Westwood Fire Hall, McCarthy’s Point Park, or the Drysdale Road parking area.

The program was introduced to assist rural residents who do not receive spring and fall curbside collection. However, the unmonitored locations were increasingly used beyond the program’s intended purpose, including for large and potentially commercial-sized loads. The program also required significant staff time and equipment and raised regulatory considerations associated with operating unmonitored satellite waste collection locations.

Leaf and yard waste is accepted from Township residents at the Asphodel-Norwood Transfer Station, located at 187 County Road 40, during regular operating hours, free of charge. 

Please do not leave leaf and yard waste or any other materials at the former remote drop-off locations.
