Call for Applications: Community Members Invited to Join Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board
The Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board is currently seeking applications for three (3) Community Appointees as required under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
As of April 1, 2024, individual municipal Police Service Boards were amalgamated into a single Detachment Board. This new Board serves as a vital link between the Ontario Provincial Police and the communities they serve, with a core purpose of enhancing oversight and governance within Peterborough County.
Role of the Board
Members of the Detachment Board are responsible for:

Completing mandatory training;

Providing oversight of the Detachment Commander’s local action plan;

Presenting an annual report to each Council;

Preparing rules, procedures, by-laws, and policies; and
-
Preparing board estimates/budgets for operations.
Eligibility
Community appointees must reside in one of the following areas:

Curve Lake First Nation
-
Hiawatha First Nation
-
Township of Asphodel-Norwood
-
Township of Douro-Dummer
-
Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen
-
Township of North Kawartha
-
Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan
-
Township of Selwyn (Smith and Ennismore Wards)

Municipality of Trent Lakes
Compensation and Term
-
Appointees will receive $100 per regular Board meeting plus mileage at the CRA rate.

The Board meets quarterly (January, April, July, and October) on the fourth Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Peterborough County Courthouse.

The current term runs until November 14, 2026, aligning with the municipal Council term.
