Congratulations, you're Getting Married!
To make it legal, you will need a valid Ontario marriage licence before your ceremony. You can purchase your marriage licence from the municipal office in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood or from another municipal office in Ontario with the authority to issue marriage licences. A marriage licence is valid only for marriages taking place in Ontario and expires three months from the date of issue.
The Marriage Licence Fee at the Township of Asphodel-Norwood is $125.00.
How to Get a Marriage Licence Application |
To get your licence you will need a complete hard copy of the Marriage Licence Application. Both you and your partner will need to sign the form in front of the Clerk.
You will need to book an appointment with the Clerks Department prior to coming into the municipal office. We ask that prior to booking your appointment, you review the Government of Ontario's website and acquire all the information and documents you require. |

To get your marriage licence you need to provide two pieces of valid government-issued identification for each person getting married. One piece of identification must include your photo. The first piece of identification must be one of the following:

Proof of Marriage/Name Change |
You will need to apply for a Marriage Certificate if you would like to have proof that your marriage has been registered by the Province of Ontario or if you would like to change your last name. The Marriage Certificate can take up to 12 weeks to process. You can also apply for a Marriage Certificate online. |
