Today at Pleasant Meadow Manor Lou Rinaldi, MPP for Northumberland - Quinte West on behalf of Jeff Leal, MPP for Peterborough announced that Ontario is creating 35 new long-term care beds in Asphodel-Norwood to help seniors better access high-quality care and continue to live happy and healthy lives. These new beds are a part of the province's committment to build 5,000 new beds by 2022 and more than 30,000 new beds over the next decade.
Ontario is also investing $300 million over the next three years to hire an additional registered nurse at every long-term care home, and to increase the provincial average to four hours of daily care per resident by 2022.
Mayor Low, Deputy Mayor Bonneau, Councillor Vanderhorst and Councillor Millett were in attendance at Pleasant Meadow Manor for the funding announcement.
