Peterborough Public Health (PPH) is actively monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and collaborating with local hospitals, primary care, emergency services, the Ministry of Health, provincial and national colleagues. Please visit the PPH Novel Coronavirus page for local updates. If you observe an individual who you believe is not following self-isolation or quarantine requirements, you can submit a COVID-19 Complaint Form and they will be contacted by Peterborough Public Health.
Take basic protective measures to protect yourself and your community from the Novel Coronavirus. The World Health Organization's (WHO's) website has advice for the public and information on social distancing, which includes videos and posters you can download and share.

September 22, 2021: Proof of Vaccine |
To further protect Ontarians as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of the COVID-19, the government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will require people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22, 2021. Requiring proof of vaccination in these settings reduces risk and is an important step to encourage every last eligible Ontarian to get their shot, which is critical to protecting the province’s hospital capacity, while also supporting businesses with the tools they need to keep customers safe, stay open and minimize disruptions. |
Ontario Releases Three-Step Roadmap to Safely Reopen the Province |
The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, has released its Roadmap to Reopen, a three-step plan to safely and cautiously reopen the province and gradually lift public health measures based on the provincewide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators. April 17, 2021: Ontario Strengthens Enforcement of Stay-at-Home Order |
The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts, is strengthening enforcement of the province's Stay-at-Home order while imposing new travel restrictions and further strengthening public health measures. These urgent actions are targeted at stopping the rapid growth in COVID-19 case rates and relieving mounting pressures on the province's health care system. COVID-19 Vaccine & You (2): Live-Streamed Presentation by Dr. Salvaterra |
Local Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, will give another free, live-streamed presentation on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. about AstraZeneca and Janssen vaccines, the two latest COVID-19 vaccines approved by Health Canada. Dr. Salvaterra invites questions from the community in advance so they can be addressed during her online presentation. February 26, 2021: Ontario Small Business Support Grants |
Ontario is helping businesses recover costs for personal protective equipment and providing extra support for businesses required to close or significantly restrict services as a result of provincial public health measures. February 12, 2021: Peterborough Region Moving to Yellow 'Protect' Level |
Based on a general improvement in trends of key indicators, including lower transmission of COVID-19, improving hospital capacity, and available public health capacity to conduct rapid case and contact management, some public health regions will no longer be subject to the Stay-at-Home order starting Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. For full news release, please view the Government of Ontario's website. December 21, 2020: New Ontario Small Business Support Grant |
The Ontario government continues to provide a variety of supports to employers facing challenges as a result of COVID-19. The government will now be providing even more support to small businesses that are required to close or severely restrict their operations due to the necessary Provincewide Shutdown. This will help ensure they can continue serving their communities and employing people once COVID-19 has been eradicated. The new Ontario Small Business Support Grant, will provide a minimum of $10,000 and up to $20,000 to help small business owners during this challenging period. December 11, 2020: COVID-19 Vaccine |
The Ontario government has developed a three-phase implementation plan to receive, store and administer COVID-19 vaccines to Ontarians as soon as they are received. Phase One will begin on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 with a pilot project in Toronto and Ottawa which will include the vaccination of over 2,500 health care workers with the Health Canada approved Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
